Finally got around to doing the A services on my R500 and E430. After that went mountain biking. ~7 miles on a trail I’ve never done before, approximately half of which was awesome, the other half being not single track or grinding uphill stuff. Super fun. For about a mile of that my buddy and I switched bikes.
I have an old trek 3700 with 26" tires, terrible maintenance history, hard tail, crap front shock, slippery pedals, poor gearing, v-brakes and narrow bars. He has a Santa Cruz blur, with excellent maintenance history, excellent gearing, wide bars, shin killing pedals, hydraulic disc brakes and suspension from a coupe de Ville with a 3" lift. Almost killed myself the first time I pulled on his front brake. But damn that was an awesome and confidence inspiring bike to ride once I got used to it.

The price of such a bike, however, inspires only fear.

I thank you on his behalf. And I pity your bank account.

Eh, it could have been worse. I’m thinking about baking the service department a few loaves of banana bread...good idea or is that a no no

Yeah, just saw your post, definitely could have been worse. Best idea. Customers who bring us things get the best service. Just make sure the tech is aware you brought it (even if that just means the service advisor says to the tech “hey asshole! Come get banana bread! The S600 guy with the busted radiator brought it in!”) and he gets some if he wants some. He will remember in the future and that can’t hurt.

Awesome. I’ll make sure to make some.
